So, we are winding down for Christmas now. December we will be finishing off our next Trio release and eating Mince pies.
This year has been a big one for us. Very enjoyable festival gigs throughout Europe and England. High lights such as Cheltenham and London Jazz Festival with the big band. Latitude, Love supreme, Natt Jazz in Norway, Elb Jazz in Germany, German jazz Festival in Frankfurt, Jazz a Vilette in Paris and many many more.
Big shout out to Ben Buckley from Air Artists.
We have big plans for 2014 too. First off we hit Birmingham on 30th Jan. Buy Tickets Here!!
Then we have a nice double bill at Kings Place, Hall one with Magnus Öström. Buy tickets Here!!
Heres a nice idea as a stocking filler;
Summer was good to us. We played Cheltenham with the big band (more news on this later) a bunch of European festivals listed in Steak and Saunas, Love supreme, Latitude and Canary Warf. We recently went on a jaunt to Paris and Eindhoven to play at Jazz A Villette which was fun.
So, the big news is we’ve been busy. Last year we all arranged a bunch of our trio pieces for big band including one completely new piece just for Troyk-estra. This year we performed at Cheltenham Jazz festival, it was recorded for radio 3. We’ve since been editing and mixing this with Alex Killpartrick for a big band album release on Impossible Arc Records. We are all very proud and excited about this record! We will be cutting it onto limited edition vinyl and releasing the album at the London Jazz festival this autumn.
Hi everyone. We’re very excited to be playing at Love Supreme festival in 2 weekends time. Have a look, there’s some great acts on including Michael Kiwanuka, Robert Glasper and Three trapped tigers. Especially looking forward to Three trapped tigers.
We’re also excited about our trio record which we are currently editing and mixing. Plans plans plans!
We’ve just arrived home from some very nice gigs in Europe. First off we went to play ‘Jazz in Duketown’ s-Hertogenbosch, Holland where we bumped into some good friends Ivo Neame, Martin France, Petter Eldh and Marius Nesset who were playing on the same stage as us that evening. All of our flights over the last couple of weeks have been mega early painful vibes so I won’t bother mentioning them again, although we did find our ways to combat the tiredness and stress of difficult travel. Steak and Saunas.
Next up was Norway playing Natt Jazz where there were these beautiful views..
Kit had a Sauna in his hotel room, and a roof terrace!
Big thank you to all the organisers, Volunteers, audience and stage guys at Natt Jazz.
Next we travelled for 10 Hours to Weltecho in Chemnitz, Germany. 3 Taxis, 2 planes and 2 trains..ouch! All was fixed with a pre gig massage in the hotel!
Then we went up to Hamburg to play at Elb Jazz Festival, we were very excited about this! We arrived to the grand hotel and straight away bumped into Stan Sulzmann who was leaving for the airport. Also we had a late night drink with the boys from ‘Roller trio’ then shared a flight with ‘Get the blessing’ on the way home the following day.
It was time for sound check where we were greeted by lovely staff and food.
We had time to squeeze in a Jacuzzi and Sauna before the gig to help with 3rd night of no sleep.
Big shout out to Benny Greb who came to check out the gig and Christian from Hyper active kid. It was also great to have Chris’s Mum and Dad at the gig who have started there retirement European holiday tour, congratulations to you both!
Here’s another sneaky listen to a bit of music from our new trio record…
Special thanks to Ben Buckley from Air artists agency for organising these gigs.
We have three rather special festival gigs coming up this summer.
At Latitude on 20th July we’re headlining the “late stage” on the Saturday night which will be from 11pm-12pm.
We’re very excited about this summer!

Here’s a 7 second sneaky peak at another new groove from the trio record we just passed last month.
We’ve just spent the last 3 days making our new record. All three of us are very excited about it. We have definitely grown since recording Moxxy in June 2011. The music we have written for this record is much more challenging to play, it felt good to really get our teeth into something new. We’ve thrown everything into it!
We were all touring last week with Troyka and other projects so we’re in need of a chill soon. However, there’s no time for that..we’ve got too much good stuff coming up.
Friday we play at the Victoria and Albert museum accompanying the David Bowie exhibition. Here’s a nice plug from the V&A twitter account to 222,000 followers!
